B1 Exam
B1 is a level of English defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is an important level as it bridges the gap between simple and complex language usage. The CEFR says that learners at B1 level:
- Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
- Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
- Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) B1 English Test is conducted to test your fluency in English and knowledge of cultures and traditions of UK. If you are not fluent enough in English, you should be taking this course for obtaining relevant qualification before you are applying. B1 course is designed to improve your English. This course can help you possibly gaining 'Citizenship'.
Content of B1 English course
The content of the course will vary depending on the needs and interests of the learners and the profile of the class. However, it is intended that you and the tutor cover Life in the UK - A Journey to Citizenship official publications with the opportunity to gain an ESOL (English) qualification. The B1 course is delivered in a citizenship context and used learning materials derived from the 'Citizenship Materials for ESOL learners' pack produced for the Home Office.
Pass Percentage
The pass percentage of this examination is 75 %. If you are asked hundred questions you have to answer at least seventy five questions correctly. If you answer more than twenty six questions incorrectly then you will be considered as a failed candidate.
At English Test UK, we aim to improve your English spoken, written and reading skills to a sufficient level, which can aid in your application for Citizenship as well as help you in everyday life. You will take an exam at ESOL Entry Level 3 (B1 CEFR equivalent), which if achieved will be a useful document for your 'Citizenship' application.
