Since 5th November 2015 the Home Office introduced changes to the English test for immigration purposes. All tests must be done through a Home Office approved Secure English Language Test centre (SELT).
The requirements of Knowledge of Language (KOL) can be achieved by obtaining one of the approved qualifications in English at minimum A1 for applicants for spouse visa, A2 for extension purposes and B1 (CEFR) for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Citizenship applications.

You can book and prepare for one of two approved examinations:
1) Trinity College London

2) Life Skills Test (IELTS Consortium)

Home office accept certificates which are listed on the SELT (Secure English Language Test) List. You can book an approved SELT test by clicking on our Dates & Location section. The qualification provided will be valid for two years.
